Service Leadership Programs (SLP) Dinner Meeting 4-17-24
On Wednesday 4-17-24 Hooksett Kiwanis and our Service Leadership Programs (SLP’s) members had the pleasure of hearing from Brady Merrow and Abigail Gowern from the Manchester Central Key Club. They presented their DECON experience.
Both Faculty Advisors (Darci St. Onge and Sarah Craig), six students and Amy Merrow the Kiwanis Advisor attended DECON in Springfield, MA from April 5th thru April 7th. They attended workshops and participated in the service project, helping to pack 75,000 meals. Since students participated in the meal packing service project, they were able to bring 14 packed boxes of food back to Central for the Food Pantry, stocking the pantry well for the remainder of the year.
Amy Merrow reported it was amazing to see Central Club members being recognized for all of their hard work throughout the year at the Recognition Banquet. The Central Key Club members were awarded/recognized for the following:
- Outstanding President
- Outstanding Treasurer
- Outstanding Secretary
- Outstanding Bulletin Editor
- 2nd place Media Award
- Early Bird Dues
Below are two quotes from Amy Merrow:
“Our students made me proud with their engagement and recognition at DECON, and I certainly think should make our Club proud.”
“We are thankful for the financial support from Kiwanis for assistance in paying registration fees, covering transportation costs (half expense shared with Manchester Kiwanis since West High School students (4) and their Advisor shared the bus) and covering snacks and food purchases. Snacks and food were enjoyed by Central, Trinity and Pinkerton students in attendance at DECON. Pinkerton students (2) also joined us on the bus. Central Advisors chaperoned all Pinkerton and Trinity students in attendance, as well. “
