President’s Message
Greetings, Fellow Hooksett Kiwanians!
It is so very fitting that as we see changes in the colors of trees around us and witness the first leaves begin to fall that we also face the transition into a new Kiwanis year.
“There is something so special in the early leaves drifting from the trees – as if we are all to be allowed a chance to peel, to refresh, to start again.” -Ruth Ahmed
As October 1st marked that new beginning for our organization, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Tim Sweeney for his dedication and contributions to our Club throughout this past year as President and congratulate him on the transition to his new role as Immediate Past President. Under Tim’s leadership the groundwork was laid for change that will positively impact the future of our Club. His thoughtful reminders regarding the importance of membership involvement and his ability to connect how that involvement is needed to realize our overall successes will continue to ring true. Thank you for your continued service to our Club, Tim! I would also like to recognize Carrie Hyde’s willingness to jump in and get involved as a new member and congratulate her on her new role as President-elect. We have a great leadership team!
As we embark on this new Kiwanis year, I would also like to express gratitude for the opportunity to serve our Club as President. A new year always brings a fresh start, and I am excited to begin this journey with all of you! I encourage all to get involved as we seek to continue to carry out our mission to “improve the world by making a positive difference in the lives of children and communities.” It was the work that I was asked to do as an Advisor for a sponsored Service Leadership Program (SLP) that brought me to Kiwanis, and it is that work that we continue to do for the youth within our extended community that keeps me here. Our Club makes a difference! If you have not yet attended an SLP meeting at Hooksett Memorial School, please plan to do so. As a reminder, our meeting schedule has shifted to one meeting a month with alternating months for our SLP focused meetings. We are hopeful that this change will allow for greater attendance at all meetings.
Our meeting schedule for the remainder of this calendar year is as follows:
- Tuesday, October 22nd – Installation Dinner at the Oscar Barn
- Wednesday, November 13th – SLP at Hooksett Memorial School
- Wednesday, December 11th – Holiday Auction at the Oscar Barn
I look forward to all that we will accomplish together throughout this new Kiwanis year as we peel, refresh and start again! Always remember that together we can make a difference!
Yours in Service and Friendship,
Amy Merrow
