On Wednesday, June 19th, the Kiwanis Hooksett Club held their last dinner meeting at The Oscar Barn before breaking for summer.
The evening commenced with a warm welcome and review of what the Kiwanis Mission is, from President Tim Sweeney. He also mentioned that two scholarships will be presented to deserving graduating Seniors of high school as well as inducting two new members to the Club.
Terry Crotty, Chair of the Hooksett Kiwanis Senior Scholarship Committee, shared the numerous accomplishments and virtues of the two Seniors who were selected for this award. Emma Nelson was one of the of the Dr. James D. Walter Memorial Scholarship winners, she received ($1500) which she will use as she matriculates with Keene State College. Alexa DeFreitas received a special scholarship for this year in the name of Jennifer Chames, who was a twenty plus year member of the Hooksett Kiwanis Club and passed away this year. Alexa received $500 and will be attending, the School of Communication at High Point University in North Carolina. Members were impressed and delighted to witness these deserving students earn the scholarships.
The next course of business was to induct two new members, Carrie Hyde and Karen Nadeau. Bob Willey Past Lt. Governor .
In his closing remarks, Tim Sweeney expressed gratitude to attendees for their commitment to Kiwanis’ mission of serving the community’s needs. He encouraged members to continue their active involvement and welcomed their ongoing contributions to shaping the club’s future endeavors.
