Message From the President
The June meeting at Oscar Barn recognizing the Hooksett Kiwanis Scholarship event was a tremendous success. It was a Standing Room Only event with 70 plus members, SLP Clubs and parents. This year’s recipients Crosby Nolan and Emma Nelson each received a $1500 scholarship. While Alexa DeFreitas received the one-time memorial scholarship of $500 in memory of Jennifer Chames. We offer our congratulations to these recipients and wish them well in their college studies.
Well Summer is officially upon us. We have transitioned from black flies to mosquitoes and look forward to family barbeques, picnics, beach days, hiking, swimming and long-awaited summer vacations. Whatever your summer plans call for, we hope that they are relaxing, enjoyable and accident-free.
As you plan ahead, we hope that you will keep in mind several important upcoming Kiwanis events. The annual Kiwanis Golf Outing at the Stonebridge Country Club July 26th; Touch-a-Truck at the Library August 3rd (10-12:30 Noon); National Night Out August 6th . We could use some helping hands at these events, so please consider donating some of your valuable time: “Many hands make for light work.”
Our meeting schedule for July and August will call for special events. Tentatively scheduled for July 24th is a wine tasting at LaBelle Winery in Amherst and August is Kiwanian barbeque (details to follow). We’ll get the specifics out to you in a separate email.
With so many competing tasks and events in your day and workweek, it is easy to put Kiwanis aside. Please consider the many ways you can provide support to the Club. You can simply attend meetings, become involved with a Club activity such as volunteering to help out with the Community Leaders Event, 5K Trail Race, or National Night Out to name but a few. If you enjoy collaborating with other members to achieve our Club’s mission, then we encourage you to become a board member.
If you have other ideas and suggestions to strengthen our Club or to give back to the community, please let us know.
Thank you for being a Kiwanian. And remember, Kids Need Kiwanis and Kiwanis needs You
Kiwanians Pay It Forward!
